Wooden Uncle Sam - January 20, 2012
I drew and cut this wooden Uncle Sam out of pine. After cutting and sanding the five pieces, I painted him and antiqued him with dark walnut MinWax stain. Then I wired on his arms and legs with twisted picture hanging wire and buttons. The little flag is cut from basswood and is painted and antiqued. I drilled a 1/16th inch hole in his hand and the flag. I used a dowel to attach it to his hand.
He sits on an oak washstand, in an extra bedroom, that is decorated with an Americana theme.
