Mosaic Glass Apple - January 7, 2012

       I made this mosaic glass apple in 1969.  I picked up the glass piece for free, laying behind a factory next door to where I was doing my student teaching in Carnegie,Pa.   < in Pittsburgh, Pa.>
      Since the pieces of glass were cream, red and green,  I thought of an apple.  I glued down the pieces on a  14" square board and added the frame   (  which I applied saddle soap to). I didn't cut the pieces into these shapes.   I used the glass as I found it.    It is dated 1969 on the back. 
      I love making something creative out of  "found"  objects.  It has hung in my kitchen for forty two years.

      It's a full moon night here in northern Virginia.  I just looked out the back window and saw this moon and had to take a photo of it.   It's just beautiful.

      I took this photo of a cross stitch that I stitched in the 1980s.   The fabric that it is stitched on is 28  count linen   <  28 stitches to the inch>.    I framed it myself between two panes of glass so that you can see my stitching on the reverse side.

        There was a beautiful sunset today,  but it disappeared very quickly - in the blink of an eye.  I took this photo from this front door.

       I took this photo of a dragonfly paperweight from Vietnam that I have on an end table in my living room.  It is very iridescent in color.   I think I like it so much because I have also used a lot of dragonflies in my fiber art over the years.

The Stockings Were Hung by the Chimney With Care - January 2, 2012

      This is a photo of a needlepoint Christmas stocking that I made for my son in 1977.   It is hanging on our living room mantle.  It has some  3-D features: the  hair on the little boy,  Santa's beard and coat and the fringe on the rug.   I love doing needlepoint and really loved stitching this Christmas stocking for him.  The little boy is looking up the chimney and Santa is sliding down the banister.

      I took this photo of an 18"  feather tree that I decorated with sea shells and put on my living room coffee table for the holiday season.  I love the beach and collecting sea shells.
